Why does my unit of measurement change sometimes during my workout?
This results from a mismatch between your Apple Watch region and the MapMy unit of measurement settings.
To correct this:
From the Apple Watch app on your phone > General > Language & Region > Region > Custom > Choose a region that aligns with your unit of measurement settings in the MapMy app.
Training Plans + Coaching
Training plans and coaching are not yet available on the Apple Watch app.
For now, when using training plans or coaching, users can pair their watch workouts to their plans after the fact or begin their workouts from the phone. Workouts started from the phone will mirror onto the watch, and the phone will maintain your plan or coaching audio as you go. You must keep your phone with you for this to work.

From the Apple Watch app on your phone > General > Language & Region > Region > Custom > Choose a region that aligns with your unit of measurement settings in the MapMy app.
Missing Heart Rate
If your Apple Watch fails to track or report your heart rate, try the steps below:
- Ensure you've enabled Apple Health permissions: Open the Settings app on your phone > Apps > Health > Data Access & Devices > choose the MapMy app from the list > Turn All Categories On (or turn off and back on).
- If that doesn't work, try deleting and reinstalling the MapMy app from your phone and watch.
Before deleting the app, ensure your workouts have synced and can be seen in your workouts list. Workouts not fully synced before deleting the app cannot be recovered. To check your workout list:
- Open the MapMy app on your phone > select the clipboard icon at the bottom right > choose the Workouts tab at the top right.
- If you're missing workouts from the list, please refer to the section below regarding Workout Syncing before reinstalling.
Does heart rate factor into my calorie burn?
Only workouts started directly from the Apple Watch will have heart rate factored into the calorie burn information that is reported back.
Mirroring Delays
If you begin your workout from your phone and the stats fail to mirror onto your watch, you can try the steps below.
- If the app on your watch fails to launch on its own, manually open it and wait a few moments for the mirroring to begin automatically.
- Ensure that your phone's Bluetooth is turned on.
- If your watch has a passcode, make sure you've unlocked it before beginning the recording.
- Keep your phone and watch near each other when you start the recording.
- Keep your phone with you and close to the watch for your workout.
If that does not work:
- Open the MapMy app on your phone, select the clipboard icon at the bottom right, and choose the Workouts tab at the top right.
- Delete the app on both your phone and watch.
- Restart your phone and Apple Watch.
- Reinstall the app, and reconnect it with your watch.
Lost Workouts & Syncing Delays
If a workout started and saved from your Apple Watch fails to sync to your account on our website or on the mobile app, you can try the following.
Please do not log out or reinstall the app with unsynced workouts. This will result in the permanent loss of that data.
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
- Keep your phone and watch near each other.
- Open the MapMy app on your Apple Watch.
- Swipe from right to left on the Activities screen.
- Tap each workout to reattempt syncing.
How do I delete my watch workout?
To delete a watch workout, pause and finish it. Once the workout syncs to your account, you can delete it from your workout list in the phone app.
Inaccurate Distance
If your watch workout reports incorrect distances or fails to report distance entirely, you can try the steps below.
For users who start their workouts directly from the watch app:
- Open the Settings app directly on your watch > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Toggle this on (should be green when enabled).
2. Open the app on your watch briefly before beginning your workout. This should give your watch time to connect to GPS.
For users who start their workouts from their phones and mirror their stats onto the watch face:
- Your phone is in control of your workout's distance tracking: visit our other Help Center article for phone troubleshooting tips.
Will I get a map of my workout?
Yes. Location Services must be turned on in order to provide maps of your workout routes.
How is my distance being tracked?
If you begin the workout directly on your watch, your watch's GPS is responsible for your distance.
If you begin the workout from your phone and mirror your workout stats onto the watch, your phone's GPS is responsible for your distance.
