Voice Feedback is a feature that helps you stay informed about your activity without needing to look at the screen. It consists of audio cues and workout stats from our app delivered through your device's speaker or headphones and is enabled by default.
To enable/disable voice feedback, visit the "Workout Setup" screen by tapping the gear icon in the upper right corner. The volume of the Voice Feedback mirrors the volume setting on your phone. Intervals for voice feedback can be based on either time (30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 20 minutes) or distance (.1, .25, .5, 1, 2, 5, 10, and 25 miles or kilometers).
You may need to readjust the volume when switching from the device speaker, headphones, or Bluetooth audio.
Your Android device controls the volume of the Voice Feedback setting. To change the voice on your device, go to your device's Settings > System > Languages > Text-to-speech output. You can search the Google Play Store for a new Text-to-speech voice in your preferred language or that suits you better.
Android users, please note: voice feedback will not work with "Do Not Disturb" mode enabled. In addition, if you are using Bluetooth headphones, you will need to disable the "in-call" volume feature to hear Voice Feedback.
A note about Pace / Speed Current, Average, and Split definitions:
Average - The average pace/speed of your entire activity
Current - The estimated pace/speed at which you are currently moving. This can take moments to reflect speed changes and may not be instantaneous, as GPS-based tracking uses the most recent data points to calculate your rate of movement, which may not reflect your momentary pace/speed. Simply put, this metric can take a moment to reflect any change in your pace/speed.
Split - The pace/speed of your last interval, such as a kilometer or mile. If you covered your last mile in 10 minutes, this would be your split pace. Please note that your Split pace and Average pace can sometimes match, but will not always, and depends on the length of your workout and the changing of your pace during the workout.
MVP Users will have additional Voice Feedback benefits and options from their Coaching settings and be able to select additional metrics to hear during their workout. For more information on this, see Coaching.
Distance-based voice feedback is dependent on which system of distance measurement units (imperial or metric) is selected in the general app settings and on outdoor recordings that have a good GPS signal. If it does not produce accurate voice feedback you'll need to follow our GPS troubleshooting steps.
If you are using an Apple Watch to record your workouts and would like voice feedback, please see the article here.
