Route Leaderboards: Viewing previous workouts on same Route
Featured AnsweredOne of the best features of creating and re-using Routes, for me, has always been being able to easily see the dates and workout durations (run times) of previous workouts on the same route. It's very valuable for me to look at a given 5-mile running route and see what times I ran for that route, on previous workouts.
A couple months ago, the page for a given Route changed so that it now shows a big, pretty map of the Route but it doesn't show previous times for the route anymore. This is very frustrating. So far as I can tell, there is no longer any way to see all previous workouts on a given Route in a single place. It would be great if this could be fixed as part of the website makeover. Thank you!

Hi Nathan! We recently made some updates and improvements to our Routes feature on our website. One side effect of this is that some details, such as leaderboards, are currently unavailable. As we continue to build and improve the Routes feature we hope to add this information back. I apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this change may have caused and will pass your feedback along to our product managers for review and consideration.

"Updates" and "Improvements" = losing functionality
It isn't like the data is gone - each individual workout info is still on my account, just for some reason they have decided to remove ability to look at previous times on a route. It should be a simple database query.
Sometimes it feels like app developers don't actually use their app.

I was disappointed to see the Leaderboard feature disappear last summer. I am even more disappointed to find that they still have not seen fit to restore it. Has anything been gained, by anyone, by its loss? Is there any time table predicted for WHEN " we hope to add this information back"?...or is that just a throwaway line to appease those of us who miss it?

I actually sent an email about this very topic in November of 2019. Looks like the response I received is just the same standard response as this post:
"Thanks for taking the time to write in. We recently made some updates and improvements to our Routes feature on our website. I agree with everyone here that this should be resolved. I'm also a software engineer with 16 years experience. I know how website redesigns go. I imagine they had to hit a deadline, so they cut "bells and whistles" to hit a deadline of the core functionality. It would still be VERY nice to bring this feature back.
Thanks,
Michael

Hi,
I've been a big user of the route leaderboards as a means of self-motivation. Mainly as training varies over the year and I'd switch from flat to hill, from short to long distances, etc. So it's been a great way to get moving and beat last years, etc.
I find it unbelievable that this feature would be withdrawn, so really hope you reconsider.
Thanks,
Alex

The route leader boards function went ages ago. I also flagged it, got an anodyne response about how they'd consider the feedback and nothing changed. It's one of the main reasons I log my runs to see if I'm improving. I'm afraid it's very short sighted that this hasn't already been reinstated and don't understand the reason for removing it. I'm not even interested if other people have run times on my routes, I just want to see my times.

@Eric Wilson and @Chip Morgan... yes, I almost exclusively use the website as well. I have also been using this site since 2007 at least. Having this feature disappear really upset me (see my initial post above). However, as Alex has pointed out, you can go on the app on your phone and still see the route leaderboard, and it shows data as far back as I've saved it. No data seems to be lost. I'll agree it's annoying to have to go to your app to see it, rather than it just be on the website like it used to be, but it's better than nothing.
@Alex Wilson, sorry about that! I work with a female Alex, but I know many male Alexes (Alexi?). There's also obviously A-Rod. My apologies for making the incorrect assumption there! -
Hi MMR team... just adding to the chorus. The ability to look back at my previous performance on my favorite routes over the last 9 years is the reason I use the website. I just started riding again after a long break and was stunned to see the leaderboard gone. If this stays gone on the website, it kills the product for me... totally.

I have, like many others, invested many years of training in this site. Removing Route Leaderboards has made much of this unavailable for comparison. I asked the question when it was removed and was told it was hoped to bring them back, several months on the leaderboards are still missing. Please bring them back.
MapMyRun was the best activity monitor around, but is currently just another site. It seems to be designed by web developers rather than users of the system.

Also, for those who take pleasure in the return of the leaderboard to the mobile app, I hope the developers realize that the mobile app only sorts by time, not date.
One of the joys of the sortable leaderboard on the website was the ability to organize by date. I'm sure I'm not the only one who used that feature to measure progress. ☹️

Yes totally agree that the leaderboard needs to be back... it is a feature that inspires you and keeps you going with competitive spirit!
The other feature that has gone missing is if part of your route was overlapping a route created by someone else, then the times of all runners who had run along that section of the route could be seen too.
MMR seems to be going back on its functionalities rather than improving. When I wrote to them about this missing functionality, after they "improved" the Routes > My Routes function, I too got the same stock std response that they were working on it.
